Michelle Monárrez is a Mexican-American Science Fiction author, born and raised in the vibrant cultural intersection of El Paso, TX, and Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. The experience of living in a bilingual and diverse border culture became the foundation of her identity as a writer.
An Southern New Hampshire University honors graduate, Monárrez earned a B.A. in Creative Writing and English. This academic background gave her the tools to bring her stories to life.
Her mission is clear: to write captivating stories set in American settings that resonate with her Hispanic heritage. Her literary voice reflects the richness of her Mexican roots, and her narrative stands out for exploring themes related to immigration and diaspora, offering unique descriptions, and embracing magical realism in her work.
Currently, Monárrez has returned to the border, where she plans to continue crafting stories and seeks to create creative spaces so that other Juarenses and El Pasoans can nurture their love of writing and art.
